At first it can seem impossible to find clients online. After all, you’re one of thousands – or hundreds of thousands – of health coaches, yoga teachers or massage therapists in the world. How is anyone going to find you?
If you do what the majority of your competition does… they won’t.
The key to getting found online is to have a clear, focused, super specific target market. In internet business speak, this is called your ‘niche’.
You can do a quick google search to prove to yourself how this works.
Searching for ‘health coach’, you get tons of results (at the top of the search results screen, google tells you how many results it found.) In this case, we get 400 Million results.
Now refine your search a bit. Search for ‘marathon health coach’ … immediately the results are narrowed to 3 Million. 400 Million to 3 Million with just one extra word!
This works by focusing on your local area (your city/state/country), focusing on one specific issue (a disease or condition) or focusing on a specific type of customer (marathon runners, menopausal women etc.). From an internet perspective, the more specific, the better!
When you focus in a really specific target market, and create your website around that target market, you will appear higher in search results.
You won’t appear higher in everyone’s search results. You’ll appear higher in your ideal client’s search results. And that’s exactly what we want!
The goal with your website isn’t to have as many visitors (traffic) as possible. It’s to attract your ideal client – who is actively searching for solutions to the problems you solve. When your ideal client visits your website, they’re more likely to sign up to your email list, and more likely to inquire about your products and services – because your website speaks to them and their problems!
