If you’d like more visitors to your website, you’ll be interested in this tool I’ve started using.
HitTail is an online service that identifies long tail keywords for your business. That means, lesser-used keywords which are driving traffic to your site – but don’t have huge competition on Google.
In plain English, it means HitTail identifies those words you can include in your blog posts, which will rank you higher in Google searches!
And higher rankings in Google result in more visitors to your website (for those keywords, of course!)
I’ve only started using HitTail, so I’ll expand my review after I have a couple of months of results – but so far, so good!
You should know that by writing this review, I get a free year of HitTail service for my own website – but as always I’ll be transparent and share with you the results and whether I think it will really work for your business!
Once you sign up for HitTail, there is a small piece of code you need to add to your website. If you’ve built your website on WordPress, you just need to install their plugin, and type in your site ID, and you’re up and running! Really easy, even for the technically un-inclined.
Now you just need to wait for results.
After 24-48 hours you can log into HitTail and click on ‘suggestions’ – and see the list of the best long tail keywords for your site!
You might decide to eliminate some that aren’t in line with the direction of your business.
The remaining keyword you can add to your ‘To Do’ list within HitTail, and write a blog post about them!
If you make this a system, so every week or month you write a couple blog posts about these suggested keywords, you’ll see your traffic increase and rank higher on Google for those keywords. (Again, I’ll share my results once I’ve done it myself for a couple of months!)
Will HitTail work for me?
I have HitTail installed on 2 websites with different levels of traffic. They recommend having at least 1,000 visitors per month on a site to get the best results, and I can see why. My site with less traffic has fewer keyword recommendations – and you have to wait longer before seeing new keyword recommendations.
At this point I have to agree, that the service is most useful once you have a small amount of your own traffic flowing – so at least 1,000 visitors per month. (If you have less than 1,000 visitors per month to your health & wellness website, forget about SEO and do this first.)
Stay tuned for my update in a couple of months with results!
